Calodium
Caladiums are tuberous tropical plants from South and Central America, celebrated for their vibrantly colored, heart- or arrowhead-shaped leaves in shades of green, pink, white, and red. Often called “angel wings” or “elephant ears,” they are shade-loving and low-maintenance plants grown for their decorative foliage rather than flowers. Caladiums contain calcium oxalate crystals, making them toxic if ingested by humans or animals, and they undergo a natural winter dormancy period, during which their leaves die back.
